Meet the Mind Behind Capturing Yinz LLC.
So often we are starting with an idea or thought. Many times, we let them fall to the side and don’t follow through with them. Capturing Yinz was started in February 2022 when I realized just how much I missed shooting photos (dating back to high school) as well as how much candles played a role in my life. I was leaning into finding a balance for the two, and that was no easy task. I had to start over with formulas, processes, how I was showing up, the list goes on and on so many times. Early in 2024 I contemplated completely stepping away. Going into the second year I knew I needed to figure out what I could continue to be passionate about and what would be profitable.
To me photography was a non-negotiable, there is something about when I sit down with people to ask what their objective is. What story are we capturing for years to come or to help others relate that just lights a fire inside my soul. While weddings and engagement sessions are fun because you get to be the person to lay out the memory for the couples, I excessively geek out over branding photos or friends and family interactions (think- game night or cooking with grams). It’s something about capturing the random faces during a game or a grandmothers love coming through her hands to make pasta or bread.
As I looked at the shop part, the one piece I knew I would miss were the gatherings and classes. But I knew that I could duplicate that online or by elevating partnerships with other small businesses. So in April, we made the decision to let the shop go, we just needed to find someone to take over the last 5 months of our lease as we wanted to be out by October. In August, with the help of my amazing friends, I was able to transform a shed into the new “shop”. Somewhere I could pour candles, store things, and not have to drive one hour one way to do something I enjoyed.
When I am not doing photography, teaching witchy classes, or pouring candles, I am a pup mom to the coolest old man ever, Luca. I am a avid gardener which there is nothing anymore standing between me and my garden and when possible I love to get out on the river. I also have the coolest corporate job ever, and get to use my storytelling skills over there to elevate some of the smartest and most innovative folks.
Dig Your Toes Deep
Dig them deep so that when the wind blows you aren’t going to fall over. You may bend but be grounded and grow. Never stop growing.
